Human Food That’s Safe For Dogs

Feeding your dog a high quality diet is an important part of keeping them healthy.

Seeds, pits, core, skin, and rind should be removed before given to dog to prevent causing health issue.

Everyday human food that’s safe for dogs to eat, while being super healthy

Apples – Remove the core and seeds before giving it to your pet. Apple seeds contain cyanide which may be poisonous for your pet. Apples are rich in A, C, K vitamins and fiber. Also malic acid in the apple may help whiten your pets teeth. A great addition to homemade pet treats.

Banana – Great source of vitamin B6, C, potassium, manganese, magnesium, flavonoids, polyphenols, fiber. Give one slice of banana at a time. Avoid giving banana peel because it may cause blockage and be a choking hazard. Also can be added to homemade pet treats.

Blueberries – Rich in vitamin A, C, K, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium.

Honeydew – Excellent source of vitamin B6, B12, C, E, phosphorus, potassium. Due to high sugar levels in the fruits give it to your dog in moderation. Diabetic dogs should avoid eating honeydew.

Oranges – Not toxic but may lead to gastrointestinal upsets. Best to avoid giving oranges to your dog. Oranges are rich in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.

Pineapple – Contains bromelain which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It may improve your dog’s quality of life. Source of vitamin C, folate, potassium, magnesium, calcium.

Tomatoes (ripe) – Contains lycopene which may reduce risk of cancer and heart disease. Rich in fiber, potassium, vitamin C, K, folate.

Watermelon – Rich in vitamin A, B6, C, and lycopene. Avoid feeding your do the rind since it may cause stomach upset.

Carrot – Rich in vitamin A (raw, steamed, pureed), fibre. May lower risk of eye problems.

Celery – Great source of fiber, K, A, C, B vitamins, potassium, manganese, calcium, magnesium, flavonoids. Give it in small pieces because celery can be a choking hazard to your dog.

Cucumber – source of vitamin K, C, potassium, fiber. May lower risks of cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions.

Cheese – Good in small amounts. Rich in protein, calcium, essential fatty acids, vitamin A, B vitamins. Choose cheese without any additives like onions and chives that are toxic to dogs. Salty cheese may increase chances of kidney problems.

Coconut oil – Has antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties that can help alleviate yeast infections. Also boosts skin health, nutrient absorption/digestion, lower heart disease risk, and enhances motility among dogs with arthritis and joint issues, etc.

Probiotics – Probiotics support digestion, nutrient absorption, toxin removal. Probiotics also helps ease diarrhea, allergies, high cholesterol levels. Natural source of probiotics: kefir, fermented vegetables, grass fed plain yogurt.

Eggs (cooked) – Source of easily digestible protein. Rich in selenium, vitamin D, B2, B6, B12, zinc, iron, copper.
